Pimp C of U.G.K. Found Dead In Los Angeles Hotel Room

U.G.K.'s Pimp C, legally known as Chad Butler, was found dead Tuesday morning, December 4th, 2007, inside a Los Angeles Mondrian Hotel room. Details of how he died have not been revealed, only that the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a 9-1-1 call, find him dead when arriving upon the scene.

OGPR, a publicity firm that represents Pimp C / U.G.K. released the following statement.

"It is with great regret that I must confirm that Chad Butler aka Pimp C, one half of the legendary UGK, was in fact discovered dead this morning. Manager Rick Martin is asking that everyone please respect his family and those close to him at this time and refrain from rumors and innuendo. A formal statement will be released later this afternoon."

Pimp C was released from a three-year prison stint in late 2005, after a conviction for aggravated assault, reuniting with longtime partner Bun B for the release of U.G.K.'s Underground Kingz LP, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts this past August. The Outkast featured lead single, "International Players Anthem (I Choose You)" helped propell the album to the top of the charts, but the group had a long history of classics. U.G.K. was featured on Jay-Z's "Big Pimpin", but had made a name for themselves many years before with the seminal Southern rap classic, "Pocket Full Of Stones", from the Menace II Society soundtrack.

Condolences to the friends and family of Pimp C, from HipHopSite.Com. Rest In Peace. - Pizzo
